What makes a House a Home? Why the people in it of course, it goes without saying.
Ok then, what’s the difference? Is your house/home just bricks and mortar?
What makes you go ahh! when you walk through the door? Is it just the welcome mat?
For me its the love you put into your home, the time spent transforming, adding, thinking about décor and what each room is about.
How relaxing and comforting is it to enter a home when the scent of essential oils, freshly brewed coffee, home cooking or freshly cut flowers greet you as the door opens.
I am pretty much a neutral kind of person when it comes to décor – apart that is from our garden room, so I do like a pop of colour to add warmth and a little spirit to a room.
A really economical and fun way to add colour or change a room is to accessorize. Please know when to stop, its not an Aladdin’s cave. We did just get rid of ‘CLUTTER’ remember.
I don’t know about you but each season brings so much colour to the outdoors so be inspired by nature; blue skies, green grass, aquamarine sea, sand, blossom on the trees, shrubs, flowers and so much more. Whether bright or bold. Subtle or relaxing. Most of us can not keep redecorating a room completely every season, it is not practical plus, expensive.
I enjoy changing things around from room to room, ornaments, lamps that will generally blend in any where. Be artistic add a pop of colour with flowers or dried/silk arrangements.
Accessorizing with cushions, lamps, throws and the odd ornament or two can make such a difference.
I do love to browse through home décor stores such as Home Goods, Tuesday Mornings, World Market, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, All the Best and the odd Old Peculiar Vintage Store, wherever in the world you are treasures can be found, from a table lamp, a throw, a rug or a cushion or two.
